Overview

The Transjogja application is a case study that I am working on as an intern at Pixelz Studio. I have attempted to delve deeper into the problem through visual exploration

Research

Get in touch with Transjogja
Transjogja is a public transportation system provided by the Jogja government. It uses a numbering system for routes and departures. When traveling from one location to another, you can have a direct route or need to make a transfer. Jogja does not have other forms of transportation like angkot (share taxis) or local trains like Jabodetabek does. However, there are many rickshaws available in the central area for tourists
Ride the Bus
Bunga is a newcomer to Jogjakarta as a college student. She is trying to find public transportation to go anywhere with the limited cash she has. She tried taking the Transjogja and wrote down her thoughts and feelings about it.
Trans Jogja has a large coverage area in Jogja, but it can be time-consuming as you may need to wait for another bus number to arrive in order to reach your destination
Sometimes it can take more time when you take the wrong bus number
Transjogja uses shelters for transit and boarding, making it cleaner and not stopping at any places. However, I found it confusing to find the shelter nearest to me.
As soon as I departed from the Transjogja shelter, the bus clerk asked me where I was going and then told me which bus number to take. Sometimes I forgot or doubted and ended up taking the wrong bus.
When entering the shelter, you can find several amenities like information boards and other resources related to Transjogja. However, I couldn't find them when my bus arrived and the information screen was not working
The price is very cheap. At that time, I only spent around Rp. 3.500 per ride. Now, it's around 4000 for adults, which can be difficult to pay with a 5.000 or 10.000 bill. Usually, there is a sticker advising you to bring exact change
I'm not sure how much of an impact this public transportation has had, as I still see many people using private vehicles. It's sad

Takeaways

Embracing unexpected opportunitiesDuring my internship, I unexpectedly delved deeper into visual design. Although I initially expected to learn more about UX design, my senior introduced us to the field. At that time, the terms UI/UX weren't widely known, and companies that separated these roles were limited. While I had aspirations of joining a studio to learn more about UX and implement it for clients, I found myself in a studio primarily focused on clients abroad who needed interface design. Rather than dwelling on not pursuing UX, I embraced the opportunity to learn and excel in visual design. It has been a fulfilling journey that continues to this day.
Documenting my designI've always been curious about how studios attract numerous clients from abroad and establish connections. The answer lies in documenting the design process and sharing it. With this in mind, I documented my exploration and turned it into my portfolio, allowing me to venture into the professional industry.
