Automated Order Notification Workflow using Make, Shopify, Printful & Gmail
For this project, I built a fully automated system using Make.com to help a Shopify store owner stay in touch with customers as soon as their orders were fulfilled — without any manual work.
Here’s how I achieved it-
I connected 3 major tools — Printful, Shopify, and Gmail — using Make.com to create a seamless workflow. The goal was to automatically send personalized email updates to customers once their orders were fulfilled on Printful.
Workflow Overview
Triggered by Printful:
Every day at 10:45 AM (Europe/Dublin time), the automation starts by checking Printful for any new fulfilled orders using the “Watch Fulfilled Orders” module. This picks up key order details like the recipient’s name, shipping status, and order ID.
2. Find Customer Info from Shopify:
Using the order data from Printful, the workflow searches Shopify to find the customer’s email and name. This step helps ensure the email goes to the right person with accurate personalization.
3. Send Email through Gmail:
Once the customer details are fetched, a custom email is sent out using Gmail. The email includes their order number, shipping details, and a friendly update letting them know their package is on its way.
Timing & Reliability
The scenario is set to run every day automatically at the same time. It handles all new fulfilled orders for the day and ensures every customer receives timely communication — no manual checking, no delays, and no missed emails.
Results & Benefits
Saved time by removing manual tracking and email writing
Improved customer experience with consistent and timely updates
Reduced errors and made the process reliable and repeatable
This kind of automation is perfect for small businesses using print-on-demand services like Printful, and I can easily adapt it for other platforms or workflows.
