Romã is an idea based on the creation of a philosophy with the aim to reconnect with our old memories, to nature and to good imperfections. Throughout our experiences, we found an authentic component in this material, with meaning and earthy colours that remind us of our old memories and traditions. Why traditions? Once my grandmother told me, when she was a kid, she and her friends always tried to have fancy shoes and to have the ones that were fashionable they used all that they had available: leaves, fruit/vegetable skins, plants, etc. And with all of that, they could create the most amazing and unique shoes. So that can remind us how we can use all that we’ve got to create, recreate, use and reuse what is available in our daily lives.
Given the current situation regarding the food industry that promotes overconsumption, overproduction and therefore generates an enormous amount of waste. For this purpose, this project uses discarded pomegranate skins for creating a new material with different possible uses.
This project aims to support the elimination of food waste through the creation of circular biomaterials. We give value to the waste resource and the place of new products and materials in a circular economy.
