Youtube Video "Week In My Life"

Ellie Grills

Final Cut Pro

Overview 🔎

This Youtube Video is an artistic compilation of daily vlogs throughout a week in my life in March. This includes doing my makeup, behind the scenes modeling at a photoshoot with Ryan Shimko, working at Coffeeology, preparing for a spring break trip, and opening up about my life. I filmed using a Canon g7x Mark ii and edited using Final Cut Pro.
This project showcases my video editing skills and musicality.

Problem & Solution 🤝

I effectively cut down 6 hours of video footage into an entertaining 18-minute video for my Youtube channel.
Goals/Requirements: Add some goals or requirements that helped get this project to the finish line. • Editing time frame of 2 weeks • Entertaining • Optimum organization of footage and storage

PROCESS

Editing

Imported the raw footage from an SD card onto my hard drive. I organized the footage onto an external hard drive, labeling and grouping into folders for easier future access.
Titled a new project and imported footage onto Final Cut Pro timeline.
Rough cut all the footage.
Precisely trimmed the clips so my sentences sounded and flowed naturally.
Downloaded copyright-free music on Youtube Studio's Audio, then created an attention-grabbing introduction, assembling the video's highlights and the title text to go with the beat of the music. I faded the intro into the talking of the first clip.
Final watch-through to ensure the video is ready for export.

Thumbnail

I screenshotted the best stills that highlight the video's essence. In Canva, I added multiple photos, elements, and text to the 1280 x 720 px template to create an aesthetically pleasing thumbnail.

Post-Editing

Uploaded the finished video to my Youtube channel.
Added "Subscribe" and "Latest Video" link to end of video.
Inserted all product and social links and credits in the bio and wrote a summary of what the video is about.
I created video-teasers in 1080 x 1920 px (Instagram, Tik Tok, and Snapchat ratios) to promote the video on my social media channels.
