The Super Seven is a sitcom opening designed around a playful, handmade mixed-media aesthetic.

The goal was to introduce the cast and creative team through a fast-paced collage of illustrated character portraits, paper textures, photographs, typography, and moving graphic elements, ending with a cinematic Sydney skyline reveal.

My role: Video Editor & Motion Designer Software: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro Style: Mixed Media / Paper Collage / Kinetic Typography

The main challenge was creating a 28-second opening that felt energetic and playful without becoming visually overwhelming.

Each character needed their own visual identity while still feeling like part of the same show. The opening also needed to transition naturally between the cast introductions, live-action Sydney footage, and the final title reveal.

03 — My Approach I built the sequence around a layered paper-collage system, combining:

Illustrated character portraits

Torn-paper textures

Handwritten and cutout typography

Vintage print textures

Photographic elements

Doodles and stickers

Subtle camera and layer movement

Live-action footage For the character introductions, I created individual compositions and used pan/slide movements, subtle rotation, scale changes, and controlled background motion to make the otherwise static collage elements feel alive.

Each character received a dedicated mixed-media composition.

For the paired characters, I used split-screen layouts while keeping each side visually connected to the character through different colors, textures, imagery and collage elements.

This helped the cast introductions feel varied while maintaining a consistent visual language throughout the opening.

The final section brings the characters together in a group shot before transitioning into the Sydney skyline.

The dialogue continues seamlessly while the visuals cut to the skyline, where the The Super Seven logo appears as the final title reveal.
