EASTER Horror Film Concept Poster

I’m a big fan of @_shark.arttack_ ’s art, which she does these horror sculptures. They’re ridiculously good! Reminds me of the 80s horror film “The Thing.” I happened to see one of her sculptures where she made a chocolate bunny with a fleshy, bloody rabbit emerging from it, like a cocoon. It made me think that it would be the perfect visual icon for a horror movie poster, so I ended up producing one! It took awhile to do, because I was playing around with different ideas and it seemed like I wasn’t married to any of the ideas – until yesterday.

Looking through some old horror movie posters from the 80s, I was inspired by the film poster “Fright Night” and the painted look many posters had from that time. This definitely was a challenging project when it came to coloring and shading. I did a lot to match the images with the background I composited while adding in shading and highlights around the clouds and rabbit. Honestly though, it added a lot of realism to it and brought the image together once I added my paint filters to it. Had a lot of fun with this project!
