Golem Gate — AI Cinematic Short

The goal was to demonstrate how a fully synthetic, film-quality action sequence — a group of young adventurers confronting a giant stone golem guardian at an ancient gate — could be produced entirely with generative image and video tools, without any live-action shoot, practical sets, or CGI pipeline in the traditional sense.

Role & Responsibilities

Directed the visual narrative and shot sequencing for a 4-shot, 15-second cinematic beat (reveal → close-up → reaction → charge)
Authored and refined text-to-image prompts in Ideogram to generate consistent hero stills (golem design, character group, environment)
Converted static frames into motion using Seedance image-to-video generation, directing camera movement, character motion, and creature performance per shot
Managed visual continuity across shots (lighting, character wardrobe, golem texture/markings, environment architecture) to maintain a cohesive "single scene" feel across independently generated clips
Assembled and timed the final cut, including shot pacing and transitions

Problem Statement

Traditional previsualization or concept trailers for fantasy/action IP require concept art, 3D modeling, rigging, and either live-action shoots or full CG animation — a slow, expensive process out of reach for early-stage pitches or rapid concept validation. The challenge: produce a believable, high-impact cinematic action beat (epic creature reveal + character reaction + chase) that reads as a polished trailer moment, in a fraction of the time and cost of conventional production.

Solution & Process

Concept stills in Ideogram — Generated the key hero images first: the chained stone golem framed in a ruined archway, the group of five young adventurers looking up in awe, a macro shot of the golem's roaring face, and the group sprinting through a canyon of monolithic ruins. Prompts were iterated to lock a consistent art style (weathered stone texture, glowing gold rune inlays, rusted chain detailing) and consistent character designs (wardrobe, hair, backpacks) so the "cast" would read as the same group across shots.
Image-to-video with Seedance — Each approved still was fed into Seedance to generate short animated clips: subtle environmental fog and dust motion plus a slow push-in for the establishing shot; the golem's head lifting and roaring for the close-up; the group flinching/reacting in the wide shot; and a full-sprint chase cycle for the final shot.
Continuity pass — Cross-checked golem markings, chain placement, and character silhouettes shot-to-shot to catch generation drift, regenerating outliers to keep the sequence visually continuous.
Edit & pacing — Assembled the four shots into a single 15-second sequence (~3.0s / ~4.6s / ~2.8s / ~4.6s), using the golem's roar as the mid-point beat and the sprint as the button/cliffhanger.
