Migration from on-premise monolith to Cloud Microservices.

Client: Max - Israel Credit Card Company

Industry: Financial Services Region: Israel About the Client: Max is one of the largest financial services companies in Israel and a leading issuer of Visa and Diners payment cards. The company serves more than 5 million customers in Israel and abroad, focusing on secure and seamless financial services.

Project Goal:

Max, a leading credit card company in Israel, required a seamless migration of its high-traffic monolithic platform from on-premises infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The goal was to enhance scalability, performance, and reliability while ensuring zero downtime and improved security. The transition aimed to modernize their system using microservices architecture, enabling better agility and operational efficiency.

Strategy & Process:

Assessment & Planning:
Conducted a detailed analysis of the existing on-prem infrastructure, identifying dependencies, bottlenecks, and critical workloads.
Designed a microservices-based architecture using GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) to replace the monolithic structure.
Developed a migration roadmap to ensure minimal disruption and seamless deployment.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation:
Used Terraform for automated infrastructure provisioning and environment consistency.
Implemented CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions + Cloud Build) for automated deployments and version control.
Security & Compliance:
Integrated Google Cloud Secret Manager for secure credentials and API key management.
Configured Cloud Armor and VPC Service Controls to enhance security and mitigate cyber threats.
Migration Execution:
Performed gradual migration using a blue-green deployment strategy to eliminate downtime.
Leveraged Cloud SQL and BigQuery for efficient database migration and analytics.
Used Pub/Sub for real-time event-driven communication between microservices.
Monitoring & Optimization:
Deployed Google Cloud Operations Suite (formerly Stackdriver) for real-time monitoring and proactive issue resolution.
Implemented auto-scaling to handle traffic spikes efficiently.

Results & Benefits for the Client:

Zero Downtime: Seamless migration without service interruptions, ensuring business continuity. ✅ Improved Performance: 30% faster transaction processing and reduced latency due to optimized cloud resources. ✅ Scalability: Auto-scaling microservices architecture supports high traffic loads dynamically. ✅ Enhanced Security: Strengthened compliance with financial regulations through advanced cloud security solutions. ✅ Operational Efficiency: Reduced maintenance overhead and improved DevOps efficiency through automated deployments and monitoring.

Conclusion:

The successful migration of Max’s web platform to GCP-based microservices transformed their infrastructure into a highly scalable, secure, and resilient financial system. This strategic cloud adoption not only optimized performance but also positioned Max for future growth, innovation, and expansion.
