Overview

DispatchSim is a high-utility training tool built for emergency services professionals. It simulates high-pressure dispatch environments, following strict protocols, and helps trainees build the muscle memory they need before handling real emergencies.

The Problem

Emergency dispatchers face life-or-death decisions under extreme time pressure. Traditional training methods can be slow, expensive, and hard to scale. There's a real need for realistic, repeatable simulation tools that let trainees practice without real-world consequences.

What I Built

A realistic dispatch simulation environment that mirrors actual emergency protocols
Scenario-based training flows covering different emergency types and severity levels
Real-time decision prompts that test response accuracy under pressure
A clean, focused interface designed to minimize distraction and maximize training value
Structured feedback so trainees can review their performance after each session

Technical Approach

The app was built with a focus on usability and realism. Every interaction follows established dispatch protocols, so trainees are learning the right habits from the start. The interface is intentionally stripped back to keep the focus on decision-making, not decoration.

Why It Matters

Tools like this can meaningfully reduce training time and improve outcomes for emergency services teams. Building it pushed me to think beyond aesthetics and focus on utility, accessibility, and the kind of UX decisions that actually matter when the stakes are high.
