From my most recent script Bet On Ben -
Sitting on a chair is a man with his hands tied behind his
back and blindfolded. The blindfold is removed by Mad Jack to
reveal a whipped-looking BEN BURKE (he may not look it now
but he is a go-getter).
Mad Jack looks over Ben’s driver license, reading it aloud.
MAD JACK
Ben Burke. From Cincinnati, huh?
Did a stretch there myself once.
(looking at Heidi’s
license)
Heidi Doss. Who’s she Ben?
Ben looks and sees HEIDI DOSS (a diamond in the rough to Ben)
who is on the floor with her hands tied and blindfolded as
well with CASH HOWITZER searching through her pockets but
they are empty. He is Mad Jack’s partner who is as cocky and
arrogant as they come.
CASH
Nothin’.
MAD JACK
Am I speakin’ fuckin’ Chinese? Who
is she?!
BEN
She’s...my girl.
MAD JACK
Oh, that’s beautiful. Really. You
created quite the headache for us
when you wasted Marty ‘cause he was
about to deliver guns which...
(nodding to Cash)
...he and I paid for. That is until
you showed up. So, ‘cause of you my
partner and I don’t have our merch
and we’re out our money. Now we’re
into plan B.
BEN
I don’t know anything about that.
MAD JACK
Well, I’m bringing you up to speed,
so now you know.
Cash approaches Ben, kneeling down beside him.
CASH
I’m assuming you don’t know what
it’s like being out $200K?
Ben shakes his head.
CASH
Speak up!
BEN
No.
CASH
I didn’t think so. That’s $200-
fuckin-K. Ever seen that much
money?
BEN
No.
CASH
Why you here anyway?
BEN
You brought us here.
Cash hauls off and belts Ben across the face.
CASH
Answers like that are gonna put you
in a lotta pain. Again. Why you
here?
BEN
For her.
Cash glances over at the motionless Heidi.
MAD JACK
What’s killing Marty have to do
with that bitch?
BEN
Nothing. Marty was an accident.
Just an accident.
MAD JACK
Well, Ben and Heidi, that accident
put the two of you in a heap of
shit and I’m sure by now you can
tell that we...(pointing to
Cash)...are not friendly people.
CASH
Give us our money back and we’ll
let the two of you be on your merry
way.
