XpressPurge: browser extension that cleans up your X feed
XpressPurge is my own product, built and maintained by me: a browser extension that filters your X timeline in real time, on your machine. It has a free tier and a paid Pro plan. It is not client work.
The problem
X's own controls are blunt. "Not interested" trains their model, not yours, and muting words misses most of what people actually want gone. I wanted a filter you can describe in plain words and that runs on your own device.
What it does
Onboarding asks one question: what are you sick of seeing? Your answers become topics and rules.
Topic kits, exact rules (keywords, accounts, media type, engagement, link domains) and feed modes you can switch between.
Cleanup of promoted posts, upsells and sidebar clutter.
An analytics view of what was filtered and why, with a score and the rule that matched.
Pro: an on-device Smart Feed model, Pack Studio for building your own kits, and an opt-in AI Coach that suggests changes for you to approve.
How it is built
Manifest V3 extension for Chromium, with a Firefox package.
Local-first: rules, history and analytics stay on the device. Browser sync copies rules and mode settings only.
Billing without passwords: checkout, then an email activation code, or restore with a one-time email code. Supabase Edge Functions on the back end.
Typed end to end, with a Vitest test suite and Playwright end-to-end tests.
What it shows about my work
A real product with paying-plan logic, a backend, a release process and a privacy model, maintained over many versions. The same skills go into a client's web app.
