Project Overview
Role: Director, Scriptwriter (Evernote), Voiceover Artist & Video Editor.
Format: YouTube Documentary / Deep Dive.
Tool Stack: Evernote (Scripting), Davinci Resolve (Editor), HyperX Duocast (Microphone)
Simple editing timeline
The Challenge
To create a compelling documentary from scratch that simplifies the complex topic of Kepther E (an YouTube Banned Found Footage) while maintaining high viewer retention throughout a long-form video.
The goal was not just to edit footage, but to build a narrative arc from the ground up—starting with a blank page in Evernote and transforming it into a fully immersive visual experience.
The Solution
Since I handled the entire production, I was able to synchronize the storytelling perfectly with the visuals:
1. Scripting & Narrative Design (Evernote):
I structured the script specifically for YouTube retention, planting "hooks" before even opening the editing software.
Broken down complex information into digestible "story beats".
Video Chapters, each containing specific context and theories.
2. Audio-Driven Editing
Recorded the voiceover with specific tonal shifts to match the emotional peaks of the script.
Edited the music to the tone of the chapter, avoiding calm music on tense situations and placing calm music on more neutral situations.
3. High-CTR Visuals:
Designed a custom thumbnail that compliments the video's hook, ensuring the click-through rate matched the high production value.
The Results
This "One-Man Army" approach resulted in a cohesive piece of content that resonated with the audience:
High Retention: Achieved an Average View Duration of 11 minutes (exceptional for this niche), proving the narrative structure kept viewers hooked.
Strong CTR: The self-produced thumbnail performed well, validating the visual packaging strategy.
"GOD IS WATCHING" - Video Thumbnail
Thumbnail Strategy:
Instead of a generic title, I aimed for a "Curiosity Gap." The visual features a distorted, unrecognizable figure in the foreground and a hooded silhouette in the background, creating an immediate sense of unease and mystery.
The text "God is Watching" (Deus está Observando) acts as a psychological hook. It's a phrase that creates curiosity that can only be resolved by watching the video until the very end, rewarding the viewer with the full context.
