Project goal Develop a new website for Titanium Force Cheer, a Central Illinois Premier All Star Cheerleading Program. The goal was to start by removing the extremely tedious process of managing new season registration process, tryouts, call-backs, and team placement for the new season. Additional phases involved replacing the online store, rebuilding the parent portal, and developing a robust e-mail system to communicate with each team and their parents.
Solution Building a new registration system required working with the client to understand the manual process and assisting with suggestions on creating a streamlined process for both parents and staff during a very busy season with several hundred athlete registrations happening at once.Development began with a new parent registration form that included the ability to upload a photo of the athlete, provide their past experience and digitally sign all contracts and waivers required for tryouts. It also allowed for scheduling tryout time slots based on the level of the athlete and accepted online payment for the tryout fee. From the administrative side, each athlete had a generated tryout sheet for coaches to see their photo, required tryout information and the assessment form on the flip side. This saved an enormous amount of time vs having done this manually in the past. Once assessments were filled out, each athlete was then placed into callback groups where they would receive a time and potential placement via e-mail for their final assessment. Once all assessments were completed, e-mails were generated to each parent with their athletes placement, schedule and next steps. After a very successful registration process, additional enhancements were made including the addition of an online store, a new parent portal, and development of a fundraising section where events and forms could be posted. This website was built using ASP.net and SQL Server and utilized AWS SES for sending automated e-mails.
