Topic: What Defines You?
Quite frankly, I’ve not the slightest clue on how to approach this question. I wonder if it’s appropriate to use my experiences to describe who I am, my flaws to illustrate my growth and my pastimes to reflect my personality. I’m also unsure if others’ opinions, as you requested, will truly reveal my essence.
Understanding my own identity feels like an elusive puzzle. I believe that I shouldn’t be confined to a single persona. Yet, grasping the core of who I am remains complex.
Others often describe me as ambitious, insightful, and refined. My mother’s admiration for my diligent and principled nature inspires me to stay true to myself. My father’s encouragement and recognition of my achievements reassure me that I am on the right path. Many people say I have been blessed with both skill and wisdom. Some friends even suggest I should be a life coach. Perhaps that’s a possibility for the future.
Nevertheless, I view myself differently. I am no more than a common person. Who I am is defined by something greater—an indeterminate calling. I believe I am here with a higher purpose, guided by a divine light. I am neither my successes nor my failures. I am a person of body, soul, and spirit—a child of God.
This understanding didn’t come from an extensively researched autobiography or countless philosophical articles. The significance of our existence often lies quietly in our minds, waiting for moments of clarity to reveal it. I take great pride in having experienced such a moment and gaining this deeper understanding.
Topic: The Transformative Power of Reading
They say one's first love evokes change in one’s life. Whether in the best or worst way possible, one’s first love cannot be easily forgotten. Psychologists suggest this is because it’s our first experience of intense emotion, imprinting itself permanently in our memory. I agree.
Even now, I couldn't possibly forget the joy of experiencing, for the first time, intent staring at pages filled with words and losing myself in them for hours. My first taste of traveling between worlds and my first try at being someone else, even if just temporarily. At a young age, I became a bibliophile.
Could you blame me, though? Reading wove my world into a web of words linking thoughts and images seamlessly—paper and ink, black and white. Simply beautiful.
On some days, I existed in a fictional universe adventuring with my many imaginary friends. On other days, I’d delve into solving the world’s problems or exploring the teachings and insights of various intellectuals.
There were no rules. One could read anything. Not only did this help me access my imagination early, but I also realized the power of my creativity and used it to achieve ingenuity.
However, upon entering high school, my spare time dwindled. With more focus on studying and extracurriculars, reading became a rare luxury. I found myself confined to textbooks, which felt more like chores than leisure. Although I didn’t agree with the system, I obeyed, being a stickler for rules and academic validation.
I always craved the rare occasions when I could read during school breaks without scholastic stress. It was during one of those occasions I realized that reading was not just a pastime; it was an intrinsic part of who I am. This eureka moment altered my perspective on school. No longer just a place to follow the syllabus, I began to see it as a physical encyclopedia—library of knowledge and wisdom, useful for future adventures.
I immersed myself in my studies, not limited to the syllabus but exploring beyond my education level. This approach helped me excel academically and ultimately achieve the role of student leader in my final year of high school.
In the words of Margaret Fuller, “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” Reading not only satisfied my thirst for adventure but also ignited my passion for learning and leadership. As I move forward to university and beyond, I am eager to apply the insights and wisdom gained from my reading journey to new challenges and opportunities, striving to make a meaningful impact and continue my quest for knowledge.
These samples are more than stories—they’re lived experiences shaped into engaging narratives. Whether it’s capturing pivotal moments or everyday reflections, each piece showcases the kind of immersive, personal writing you can expect from my services.
