Best Face Forward - An Animated Comic

 

The comic starts of with “Frame D” where the main character is shown taking huge amounts of painkillers while scrolling down his Instagram feed ;looking at pictures of models with lip fillers . 

Instantly , the scene changes to him entering a building on a dark rainy evening with huge amounts of clothing covering him so his identity can’t be revealed . There is then a buzz and he is asked to enter the room. As soon as  he enters the room he is flashed with a camera and the next minute the lights go out. 

 

There is then a shift in the whole mood of the comic and now we see a doctor using face-tune and showing the main character some options . Now it is revealed that the main character is getting lip fillers . The following few frames would include the procedure of getting lip injections whereas the main character is shown unconsciously dreaming about all the social media praise he might get. 

The main character then wakes up and heads home as everything seems normal with his lips. Its already way past his curfew so sneaks into his house with the intention of not waking up his mother. 

 

Frame turns black, he dozes off. The next day , he looks into the mirror and faints, notices his lips are purple and bruised. He is now in a state of panic. The mother hears the screaming and knocks at the room with a motine  assuming her son saw a lizard. The son quickly covers himself yup with a muffler. The mother  then gets curious as its way too hot outside for a muffler . The main character calls the doctor for help and is told to ice the lips. The struggle then begins as the mother is in the kitchen making roti. He sneaks into the kitchen, and accidentally drops the ice tray hence grabbing the mothers attention. The mother sees her sons lips and faints. When she gains consciousness , the questioning session begins ( frame shows the main character under a spotlight with the mother holding a slipper in her hand. The main character then gets away with the situation by saying that he got stung by a bee. The mother then out of concerns starts applying different desi remedies on his lips like a hot spoon . The character is shown running and screaming. 

 

A day later, the lips are even more swollen and the main character is shown icing it , while the mother is shown watching the TV. The mother comes across a morning show about lip fillers and realizes her son got them. A flying slipper enters the frame and hits the main character. The next few frames show the mother being dramatic while the son is trying to run away. The next frame shows a calendar (hinting the passing of days). It has been over 10 days now and lips are now normal , so the main character is motivated to post a picture on Instagram for approval and support. The main character ends up getting a lot of hate and the mother starts getting a lot of calls from different relatives about the picture he posted. The main character is in regret and has achieved nothing but taunts. 

 

Moral: lets not fall pray to the trends on social media.
