In collaboration with Xkan a boutique hotel located in the heart of Veracruz, Mexico, we embarked on a comprehensive branding project aimed at capturing the rich cultural heritage of the Totonaca people. The project encompassed the creation of an identity manual and a suite of both printed and digital materials that celebrated the Totonaca culture while infusing it with the boutique hotel's unique charm and character.
Client Background:The boutique hotel, nestled amid the vibrant landscapes of Veracruz, sought to provide its guests with an authentic cultural experience that highlighted the Totonaca heritage. They envisioned a brand that would not only offer luxurious accommodations but also serve as a gateway to the region's history and traditions.
Project Scope and Execution:
Research and Immersion:Our team embarked on an in-depth research journey to understand the nuances of the Totonaca culture. This involved studying their history, art, architecture, rituals, and traditional patterns. We engaged with local historians and Totonaca community members to gain authentic insights.
Conceptualization:Drawing inspiration from the research, we conceptualized a brand identity that seamlessly blended the Totonaca essence with the boutique hotel's ambiance. We focused on elements such as color palettes, motifs, and symbols that represented key aspects of Totonaca culture, like their connection to nature, spirituality, and craftsmanship.
Identity Manual Development:We crafted a comprehensive identity manual that served as a guiding document for all branding elements. The manual included guidelines for logo usage, typography, color schemes, and design applications. We ensured that each element drew from Totonaca aesthetics while reflecting the boutique hotel's sophistication.
Printed Materials:For the tangible experience, we designed a range of printed materials, including business cards, stationery, brochures, and menus. These materials were imbued with Totonaca patterns, adding an authentic touch to every interaction guests had with the hotel.
Digital Materials:Digital materials played a crucial role in extending the brand's presence beyond the physical space. Our team created a user-friendly website that not only showcased the hotel's amenities but also provided insights into Totonaca culture through interactive elements, storytelling, and multimedia content.
Guest Experience:The Totonaca essence was seamlessly integrated into the guest experience. From room decor inspired by traditional Totonaca patterns to curated cultural activities, guests were immersed in an authentic journey that celebrated the local culture.
Launch and Promotion:To introduce the new brand, we orchestrated a launch event that combined elements of Totonaca rituals, local cuisine, and artistic performances. This event garnered attention from both the local community and travelers seeking a unique cultural experience.
Results:The successful execution of the Totonaca Essence branding project transformed the boutique hotel into a cultural haven that celebrated the Totonaca heritage while offering a luxurious and memorable stay. The identity manual ensured consistent brand representation, and the printed and digital materials fostered a deeper connection between guests and the local culture.
