M.R. James Ghost stories

For this university project I chose to do Illustrations based on M.R James' ghost stories because I like the mood and settings in his work. In my second year we had an M.R. James project and I enjoyed it and wanted to Illustrate some of his other stories. I also became more interested in M.R. James' work after looking at the photography of Simon Marsden as they are often associated with each other.

The Brief that I set for myself was to do 7 Illustrations and 7 chapter Vignettes for each story.

The stories which I chose were:

1. Canon Alberic's Scap-book

2. Count Magnus

3. Number 13

4. 'Oh, Whistle and I'll Come to You My Lad'

5. The Tractate Middoth

6. Casting the Runes

7. The Haunted Doll's House
