Pregnancy+ | Product Design + Engineering

The Philips Pregnancy+ app is a comprehensive tool for expectant mothers, offering personalised insights and daily guidance throughout pregnancy. I joined the project to modernise the app’s interface and build a robust design system that could scale with the product’s growth. Initially envisioned as a short-term project, my role evolved significantly over the years, allowing me to lead impactful initiatives. From migrating design workflows to Sketch and later Figma, to consulting on Philips’ organisation-wide design system, I focused on streamlining processes and enhancing the user experience. This work supported millions of users and contributed to the app’s reputation as a trusted resource for parents worldwide.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the project was tackling the challenge of content discovery. The original “Today” feed allowed users to access daily content but lacked a comprehensive library or search functionality. I spearheaded the design of a categorised content library, enabling users to easily explore, bookmark, and revisit valuable resources. We developed a web-based MVP to validate the approach, which handled over 600 million network requests in its first year without downtime. This success laid the foundation for further iterations and demonstrated how user-focused design could drive engagement and long-term value.
