I sat there, as I waited for death to claim me. What had I done with my life? The answer was simple. Nothing. I had done nothing important with what little time I had. I had not left one mark on the world. People will not remember me as the years drag on. I had been mean and spiteful. I had pushed everyone who cared away. And now, no one would be left to remember me. Because those who would’ve, were rotting under the floorboards, beneath my feet. Now that brought a smile to my face. Those idiots who had dared get close, had learned with their final breath, just how ‘mean’ I really was. They had thought me harmless. Just some little girl who had been hurt, and hurt others in turn. But no, I had been ruthless, and beautiful in my fury. As I took the breath from their lungs, many of them stared in awe of me. In awe of the things they now knew I was capable of. The small girl with black hair, and amber eyes. The girl who no one ever suspected. Not the cops, not the town, not even her victims until their last breath escaped their lungs. And now as I slowly bled out, I smiled, a beautiful, terrifying smile. For I knew when I was gone, at least someone would remember me. The devil. For he was inspired by my cunning, my ruthlessness, by my cold black heart. For he was one of the fools who dared to get close. And the only fool who had made it out alive.
