My sibling (SkeleSaturnArts) opened their Etsy shop in 2023, but only made one sale, followed by 4 spaced out sales from the months of January through May. Early on the last two weeks of August, I asked if I could edit their product titles and tags because I wanted to help them gain more visibility and sales.
I got permission to do so, and, after looking at their products which consisted half of fursuit/fursona badges and the other being stickers, I searched similar products on Etsy to see how the first page of listings titled their products. For this example, I'm going to talk about SkeleSaturnArt's current top-selling product, which is their fursuit/fursona music playlist badge commissions.
To be honest, I forgot what the original title was, but here I made sure to include terms/keywords common in the furry community such as fursona and fursuit. I also utilized occasions (ex. conventions) as seen in the first description of the title. I included a general "furry art commission" section in the title so that this listing could appear while browsing for that specific product.
I also fixed vague tags, for example:
Furry -> Furry commissions, furry badges
Badge -> Fursuit badges, fursona badges, convention badges
This way, the product would reach the intended audience.
Within days of making these changes, SkeleSaturnArts saw an increase in favorites and profile visits, and made four sales in those last two weeks of August. While it doesn't sound like a lot, it is a significant improvement from making one sale a month during the first half of the year. We are now 8 days into September, and SkeleSaturnArts has made three sales so far. All of their reviews have five stars, boosting their shop's reliability and chances of more sales.
