Experiments: three browser games, one HTML file each.

Overview

Experiments is a section of the Kumiko site for small games I build to push front-end and motion work further than a client site usually asks for. It's a personal project. Three games are live, shown in a slow-scrolling carousel with a Pause button.
The rule for each one:
One HTML file. No game engine, no image files, no audio files.
Every graphic is drawn in code. Where there is sound, it's synthesized in the browser with the Web Audio API.
Both must run on mobile and desktop from the same file.
No asset files. This is the kind of code that draws and sounds each game

Hi-Lo Trainer

A card-counting trainer with seven drills, a table simulator, a strategy engine and self-checks for the math. Stages unlock as you improve, from single card values up to betting at a full table.
On the entry page, the deal is pure CSS. The room dims, two cards are dealt from the shoe and flip face-up. The cards tilt toward your pointer, and "Deal again" replays the deal.
The deal and flip are CSS keyframes, no JavaScript
Stages unlock in order as you hit each streak

Kitchen Sink

A timed pressure-washing game. Blast the grime off a pan, an oven rack, a casserole dish and the sink itself.
On the entry page, grime is painted onto a canvas, then a water jet sweeps the wall and erases it as it goes. Tiles hop when the jet hits them.
The jet erases canvas-painted grime, tiles hop on contact
Clearing the rack against the clock

Flight Recorder

Take apart the OSV Calloway's flight recorder on a repair bench, one seal, screw and connector at a time. Pick up any part to inspect it, flip it or turn it around. Built for phones first, with physics.
The entry page is an SVG corridor in pure CSS. The room dims, the airlock door shudders open, and cool light and mist roll out of the gap. Hover or focus opens the door a little further.
The airlock opens on its own, hover opens it further
Every part is drawn in code, down to the screws

How the Entry Pages are Built

No animation library. CSS and SVG first, JavaScript only where it is strictly necessary.
On arrival, each page eases the Play area to the middle of the screen. Any scroll, touch, or key press stops it.
Play opens the game in a new tab, even mid-animation.

Accessibility

With reduced motion on, the dimming, the jet, the moving door, and the mist are dropped.
Hi-Lo still deals its cards, but without the tilt
With Javascript off, The CSS animations still run and Play is an ordinary link.
The carousel moves slowly, and can be paused by hover or physical button

Three browser games, each a single HTML file. No engine, images or audio files: everything is drawn and synthesized in code. Plays on phone and desktop.
