Theater St.Gallen - Soraya Leila Emery - RAW 2

Musical composition and production for the contemporary dance piece sigh swoon.

Choreography by Soraya Leila Emery.

I began the composition with inspiration from Soraya. They came in the form of sound, colors, and textures. I then selected sounds and tried exploring how her concepts could be expressed through music. After we exchanged feedback and ideas I could lay down a first draft.

From then on most of the work took place in the same room as the rehearsals (see video below).

Working close to the dancers, with loud music playing, presented challenges, but it was also a source of inspiration.

It's a wonderful experience seeing how the music and dance develop simultaneously and create a kind of symbiosis.

Description of the Theater:

Raw means raw, rough, crude, unrefined, unfinished, naked. On this evening, young choreographers have the opportunity to present their innovative and experimental projects. The focus is on passion for dance and originality. There are no predetermined contents and forms.

In this season, the choreographic platform developed by Kinsun Chan in collaboration with the Master's program in Dance at the Zurich University of the Arts will continue and enter its second round.
