As a member of the Vidu Creative Partner Program (CPP), I gained early access to Vidu AI’s cutting-edge features, including the newly launched “Reference-to-Video” mode in October 2024. This membership provided me with exclusive tools, credits, and opportunities to explore Vidu’s capabilities firsthand. Motivated by this access, I decided to test the feature by creating a 90-second music video with a 90s neon, psychedelic cyberpunk aesthetic, entirely driven by AI, without any traditional filming or human actors.

Reference Image Creation: I generated a high-quality image of a purple-haired woman using Midjourney, which served as the sole reference for Vidu AI.

Vidu AI Workflow: I uploaded the reference image to Vidu and selected the “Reference-to-Video” mode. This allowed me to lock the character’s appearance, pose, and style across all scenes.

Scene Development: I wrote 18 different text prompts, each describing a unique scene (e.g., spiral highways, glowing silhouettes, rainy cyberpunk streets, stage performance). Claude assisted in refining these prompts for consistency and emotional nuance.

Final Touches: After rendering, I used CapCut for minor color grading and VHS-style overlays to enhance the 90s aesthetic.
