Boys Go to Jupiter is a NYC-based band with a hilarious internet presence and incredible musical talent. They reached out to me looking for a merchandise capsule inspired by the album they've been working on: a narrative, energetic and nostalgic collection of music (which is all I can say since the album has yet to be released). To get an idea of their knack for composing contemporary, yet jazzy music, they have some singles out on Spotify, including Lovers Always Lose and Wall St.

Their sense of humor is clear in this Bicentennial Reunion Tour tee, which is entirely based on a fake tour and inspired by the single color prints and grungy graphics on the band merch that was kicking around in the 80's. This tour includes a mix of real and made-up venues with a few celebrity collabs, including shows at both TD Garden and Titty Garden, and a night on stage with the Grateful Dead.

This second merch capsule is inspired by the band's new and upcoming music, which has nods to the messiness of your 20's and the range of emotions and experiences that accompany coming of age.

BGTJ wanted these tees to feel hand drawn, playful, and dynamic, and were definitely inspired by Remi Wolf's style and merch. I chose to do these illustrations and type by hand while only using colors found in the package of smelly markers that was in every kid's backpack in the early 2000's to bring a sense of happy nostalgia for anyone in their late teens and 20's.
