The household bleach sold under the Clorox brand is a
mixture of five chemicals mixed in water for bleaching, cleaning, and
disinfecting purposes. In 1913, Oakland, California, introduced Clorox liquid
bleach to the commercial market. Laundries, breweries, food processors, and
municipal water systems were among The Clorox Company's earliest clients as
they searched for a reasonably priced, secure, and efficient bleach and
disinfectant. In a 15-oz. amber glass bottle, the household strength form of
Clorox was first made available in 1916.
