Objective: Design an in-store Point of Purchase (POP) display that captures attention, reflects brand values, and resonates with pet lovers in a USA store.
Challenge
Companion Candles needed a standout POP display to highlight their toxin-free, pet-safe candles and draw attention to their brand in a busy store environment. The goal was to create a design that showcased safety, cosiness, and a commitment to pet comfort.

We approached the project with a strong emphasis on creativity, strategy, and collaboration:
Phase 1: Research & Creative Direction
This moodboard provides inspiration for the POP display design for Companion Candles. Here’s a breakdown of its elements:
Color Palette & Visual Elements: Bright, cheerful tones like pink, orange, and green are featured, adding vibrancy to the design, reflecting warmth, pet-friendliness, and comfort.
Illustrations: Various pet-inspired illustrations, including dogs, contribute to a playful, friendly feel. One dog image even evokes a sense of sniffing, connecting it to the candle scents.
Product Displays & Shapes: Examples of retail displays, such as rounded shapes and organized shelf setups, provide visual cues for how to create engaging in-store presentations.
Typography & Layout: Attention-grabbing, easy-to-read text and diverse display arrangements add personality, helping to communicate brand messaging clearly.
Theme & Concept: The consistent pet-friendly theme, blending coziness and vibrant design, underlines the core messaging for Companion Candles—creating a safe, happy environment for pets and their owners.
Overall, this moodboard blends inspiration from color, shape, and illustrations to help craft an eye-catching and brand-aligned POP display.
Phase 2: Concept & Sketching
We immersed ourselves in Companion Candles’ brand essence—emphasizing safety and pet-friendliness. The research focused on the brand’s unique messaging and values to create a display that authentically represented them.
Phase 3: Digital Design
I've created digital mockups to visualize the display in a real-world context. This process allowed us to fine-tune the layout, colours, and messaging to ensure maximum impact and visual appeal on the store floor.
Phase 4: Refinement & Feedback
Through close collaboration with the Companion Candles team, we refined every aspect of the design. Every colour, font, and image was meticulously adjusted to align with their brand values and capture the hearts of pet lovers.
Phase 5: Real-Life Application
The final design was installed in the Fresh Thyme store in Chicago, bringing our digital concept to life and making a tangible impact on the brand’s in-store presence.
