Part of being ourselves as female leaders and honouring ourselves in our leadership positions is embracing our femininity. The mere fact that we think it would be an utter nightmare if one were to burst into tears in a boardroom with key stakeholders is very telling. Let's be honest, the "system" in workplaces is very masculine, it was created by men and for men, after all. This is largely the reason why as female leaders, we tend to suppress our feminine qualities in order to be taken seriously or to "strategically play the game". We are inclined to lean more on our masculine qualities in our leadership styles. Little do we know that we are doing ourselves an injustice because the same qualities that make us amazing mothers, friends, wives and girlfriends are the same qualities that would make us amazing leaders and set us apart. If we are going to change the environment to be more balanced, diverse and accommodating of female leaders, we have a responsibility to honour and embrace every part of what it means to be a woman created in the image of God. In the spirit of women's month, honour yourself by embracing your femininity in your leadership role. It's a superpower, that will set you apart. Reflection: What does femininity in the context of leadership mean to you? Lead with power and purpose. Yours in leadership Nthab's 💞⠀ ⠀
