The challenge

A leading Indian NBFC launched a nationwide music talent competition, with the grand finale streaming live on YouTube. Unlike a normal campaign there were no days or weeks to build viewership: the whole opportunity came down to one fixed two-hour live window.

Objectives

Drive maximum live YouTube viewership within two hours
Keep audiences watching throughout the live event
Reach people with a strong affinity for music and entertainment
Position the show as a credible digital-first entertainment platform

Strategy

Own the peak moment: concentrate media in the hours before the finale, when people decide what to watch
Lead with the experience: the show as the hero, the brand as the enabler
Prioritise audience intent: behavioural affinity over broad reach
YouTube-first ecosystem: every channel pointed to the live stream

Execution: Build, Convert, Sustain

Build: Google captured music and entertainment search intent; Meta built anticipation with video storytelling and reminders
Convert: real-time YouTube optimisation of media intensity and creative rotation, plus programmatic and OTT (JioHotstar) to widen discovery
Sustain: continuous presence through the full broadcast to keep acquiring viewers who joined late

Results

Live reach significantly surpassed plan, making the show a high-visibility digital event within a two-hour window
High-quality TrueViews and sustained watch time, a sign of active viewing
A substantial share of exposed audiences converted into live YouTube viewers
Lifted the sponsor brand through an entertainment-first approach
Led as part of the paid media team at ARM Worldwide.
