hoofs - the character fake banned from deviantart.com on April 1

This character was created in collaboration with DeviantArt as part of the annual April 1st prank. The project was to create a horrible character that would be 'banned' from the site due to website policy. Users of the site could then get a profile badge by submitting their own version of the hoofs character. My task was to create a character that would be regarded as too terrible to have on the website, deviantart.com I had creative freedom on what type of character this could be, the only requirement was that this needed to be somewhat unsavory but not something that would be seen in a horror movie. The direction that I decided to go in would be to highlight the strange, random and unappealing aspects that could be used in character creation. After some conceptual drawings, I decided to go with a concept I had drawn that represented the worst unicorn. This began with adding hands instead of hoofs, bananas for the back legs, a mustache in the wrong place and then adding various other elements that would be strange an unappealing. The character was then named ' hoofs ' this name was chosen ironically because this character is a unicorn that does not have hoofs. This ended up being the most engagement for an online April 1st campaign that DeviantArt has ever had and still stands as the benchmark for metrics which other campaigns are measured on.
