This project visualizes a detailed molecular and cellular process at the synaptic level, illustrating how neuromodulators and neurotransmitters influence neural communication. The diagram highlights the interaction between presynaptic and postsynaptic terminals, focusing on mechanisms such as action potential propagation, back-propagating action potentials, and calcium-dependent signaling.
Key components include neuromodulators binding to GPCRs, glutamate release and NMDAR activation, retrograde messengers, gliotransmitters, and intracellular signaling cascades involving PLC, IP3, and calcium-induced calcium release (CICR). The illustration integrates structural elements—vesicles, receptors, ion channels, and endoplasmic reticulum—into a clear, color-coded schematic that emphasizes functional relationships within the synapse.
The concept aims to serve as an educational and reference tool, making complex biochemical signaling pathways accessible to medical students, neuroscientists, and healthcare professionals. By blending scientific accuracy with visual clarity, the project bridges research-level detail with pedagogical effectiveness.
