I designed two custom thumbnail variations for the video: “Japan is Quietly Going Extinct and Why Europe Should be Terrified.”
The goal of this project was to:
Create a scroll-stopping design that immediately communicates urgency.
Capture the global/geopolitical theme with visuals that match the serious tone of the content.
Test two variations to see which one drives a higher click-through rate (CTR).
My Approach:
Used bold, high-contrast visuals that highlight both Japan and Europe for instant recognition
Applied strong typography + clean hierarchy so the title remains readable at a glance
Designed with the YouTube homepage/feed environment in mind where competition for clicks is intense

Two striking thumbnails optimized to spark curiosity and encourage clicks. By offering multiple versions, the creator is empowered to A/B test for maximum performance and audience response.
