Overview

BacklineIT needed a high-quality educational explainer that could communicate its services and “Hierarchy of Innovation” framework in a clear, visually engaging, and professional way.
I handled the project across the full creative pipeline, including creative direction, art direction, visual design, motion design, animation, editing, and sound design. The objective was to transform service-driven information into a structured visual narrative that made the framework easier to understand while strengthening BacklineIT’s brand presentation.
Beyond the primary landscape explainer, I developed supporting animation assets and multiple presentation formats to create a flexible motion system that could be reused across marketing channels.

Challenges

Translating the Hierarchy of Innovation framework into a simple and understandable visual narrative.
Making educational and service-focused information engaging without overwhelming the viewer.
Establishing clear visual hierarchy across multiple concepts and animated sequences.
Balancing information density with clean, polished motion.
Maintaining consistent brand presentation across different aspect ratios and deliverable formats.
Creating supporting assets that could work independently from the full explainer.

Tasks

Established the overall creative and art direction for the explainer.
Translated BacklineIT's services and innovation framework into a structured visual story.
Designed custom visual elements and supporting graphics in Adobe Illustrator.
Developed a consistent motion language for transitions, information reveals, and hierarchy progression.
Animated individual sections of the framework in Adobe After Effects.
Used typography, composition, and movement to guide viewers through more complex information.
Edited individual animated sequences into a cohesive landscape-format master explainer.
Designed and animated the BacklineIT logo with its tagline.
Produced logo animation variants for both black and white backgrounds.
Prepared standalone clips of individual animated sections for flexible reuse.
Created aspect-ratio comparison and presentation versions to demonstrate how the animation system adapts across formats.
Developed transitions and pacing to maintain visual continuity throughout the piece.
Added and mixed sound design to reinforce movement, transitions, and important information.
Completed final compositing and quality control across the full deliverable package.

Impact

The project gave BacklineIT a polished visual framework for explaining its services and innovation methodology, making complex information easier for audiences to understand and remember.
Rather than delivering only a single explainer, the project produced a modular library of motion assets, including individual animated sequences, adaptable format versions, and branded logo animations.
This expanded the value of the production by giving BacklineIT reusable creative assets for presentations, marketing campaigns, social content, sales materials, and future brand communications.
