I have been in education from the university level through pre-school since 2003. My focus over the years has been in science, engineering and mathematics based instruction and curriculum design. I have been operating a school in South Africa for the past 11 years that operates as a magnet school in math, science infused with ancient philosophies. We also value artistic and mental development as well.
While I am able to generate a basic curriculum that includes the core principles of the subject matter, what makes my curricula unique is my abilty to infuse the material with certain aspects of life that makes it relatable to the child. It is my belief that the curriculum should not only just prepare a child for the next levels of academic instruction but should be holistic and reflect the desired intent of the parents. This may include the lifestyle, philosophies, spiritual practices, and the personal interests of the child and parents.
As the parent, you must ultimately have the control you desire in the presentation of academic material taught to your child. The content of the material should enhance the self identity and accentuate the child's self confidence.
