How a web redesign repositioned a VC firm to win new partners and credibility in frontier markets
When Ambition Outgrows Design
Lateral Frontiers is a thesis-led venture capital firm investing in Africa’s frontier markets. Their mission is bold: fueling transformative tech companies that reshape industries, from fintech to health tech to renewable energy.
But there was a problem. Their website, which is the digital face of their brand, felt stuck in the past.
The design was outdated and overly corporate, the navigation clunky, the CMS broken, and the overall experience uninspiring. For a firm built on credibility, vision, and forward momentum, their online presence was holding them back.
The brand needed a new website that looked like the future they were investing in.

Setting the Stage for Transformation
When I joined the project (in collaboration with Rvysion Studio), the goal was clear: redesign the Lateral Frontiers website into an experience that inspires trust, tells a compelling story, and positions the firm as a leading partner for founders and investors.
This wasn’t just about aesthetics. The new site needed to:
Convey credibility and clarity from the first impression.
Tell Lateral’s story with depth and authenticity.
Showcase social proof through portfolio highlights and testimonials.
Improve discoverability through SEO and scalable architecture.
It was about creating a platform where ambition met design.

Turning the Website into a Storytelling Engine
The new hero section delivered a bold, simple value proposition: who Lateral Frontiers is, what they stand for, and why they matter all in one clear, confident opening statement.
Visitors could explore a curated portfolio showcase that highlighted the companies Lateral has invested in across Africa. Each company card told a quick story of the industry, the product, and the transformative impact being made.
To deepen trust, I integrated authentic testimonials from founders who had partnered with Lateral. Their words brought credibility and relatability that no tagline could manufacture.

Designing for Credibility and Conversion
Every section of the new site was designed with one question in mind: “Does this make founders and partners trust us more?”
From showcasing focus areas like renewable energy and fintech to highlighting the breadth of their portfolio, every detail was positioned to build authority. The structure was deliberate: lead with clarity, support with proof, and close with action.
On the technical side, I restructured metadata, site architecture, and CMS foundations to ensure scalability. This gave Lateral’s team the ability to easily update portfolios, publish insights, and strengthen their presence in search engines.
The Results: A Digital Home That Builds Trust
The redesigned site became a strategic repositioning.
Lateral Frontiers now had a modern, responsive platform aligned with its mission and credibility.
Founders and partners could instantly understand their philosophy, see proof of success, and connect with the firm’s values.
SEO improvements increased discoverability, making them easier to find in competitive markets.
Most importantly, the redesign helped Lateral close new partnerships, strengthen its reputation, and position itself for long-term growth.

Trust Is the Ultimate Deliverable
For Lateral Frontiers, trust was established through clear storytelling, authentic proof points, and a modern digital experience that aligned with their ambitions.
What I learned here is that when you align design decisions with credibility and clarity, you don’t just change how a site looks, you change how an organization is perceived.
If you’re a VC, founder, or mission-driven organization looking to redesign your presence for trust, clarity, and conversion, let’s build your transformation together.
