A 2-minute cinematic short film honoring the life and legacy of Frank Hayes (1883–1966), blending AI-generated visuals, historical storytelling, and emotionally driven epilogue design.
This project focused on respectful narrative tone, visual consistency, and a strong cinematic close.
“At ten years old, Frank sat for this photograph at the Widcombe Home for Boys — a quiet, resilient child whose parents were unknown.”
“In 1910 Frank married Mabel Emily Evans — the beginning of a partnership that would carry them through war and hardship.”
“Their first child, Stanley, was born in 1911, followed by their daughter Pearl in 1913.”
“During the Great War, Frank saw active service in Belgium and at the Somme in France. Despite gas attacks, he always sent loving messages home to Mabel and the children.”
“Music remained at his heart. He played again with the Somerset Light Infantry band, this time alongside his son, and performed with the Bath Philharmonic Orchestra.”
“By the 1930s, son Stan and daughter Pearl were stepping into adulthood
“Here are Frank’s grandchildren, Terence Benwell and Susan Workman, photographed in 1990.”
“Frank Hayes passed away in 1966 — an honest, devoted man, loved by all.”
Project Description
This film was developed as a character-driven historical tribute, requiring both creative direction and technical AI workflow control.
The objective was to create a visually cohesive short film that:

• Preserves emotional tone across scenes
• Ends with a powerful, respectful epilogue
The final sequence included:
– Archival-style image animation
– Natural micro-movements
– Cinematic black-screen tribute
– Classic theatre-style curtain close
Special care was taken to avoid over-stylized AI artifacts and maintain temporal consistency.
