Lagoa da Conceição, the best area to stay in Florianopolis

It's no coincidence that Lagoa is a must-see among visitors, from couples to groups of friends, families, and solo travelers. This neighborhood takes its name from the majestic lagoon which, surrounded by mountains, forms a breathtaking setting. At the edge of the lagoon, locals and tourists stroll along Avenida das Rendeiras, where they can find houses, restaurants, stores, markets, ice cream parlors, hostels, pousadas... In short, a bit of everything.
The atmosphere there combines liveliness, tradition, and tranquility in just the right measure, in a privileged geographical location just a few kilometers from some interesting spots. From Lagoa da Conceição, you can easily reach the Downtown, Joaquina Beach, Mole Beach, Galheta Beach, and Gravata Beach.
There is also the possibility of taking a boat to Costa da Lagoa, which can only be reached by this route, or by hiking, where you can visit a small fishing village with restaurants by the lagoon and a trail that leads to a waterfall.

Other areas to stay in Florianopolis

Canasvieiras

A favorite choice for families, Canasvieiras is located in the North of the Island. It's a busy neighborhood, with the beach of the same name in front of the streets that surround it, with a calm sea and pleasant temperatures. There are many hotels, hostels, buildings, and houses for holiday rentals, which gives the place a residential feel. Nevertheless, there is also a small shopping area with restaurants, bars, supermarkets, pharmacies and stores.
For Spanish speakers, Canasvieiras is an excellent choice, as it is home to a small community of Argentine immigrants, which ends up attracting a lot of tourists from Brazil's neighboring countries. As it has a varied yet compact infrastructure, staying in Canasvieiras is very convenient.
The neighborhood is like a small city within Floripa, where there's no need to move around so much or go too far after something, except to visit other beautiful spots on the island.

Ingleses

This neighborhood is a recommended choice for families and groups of friends. Located at the end of the North of the Island area, like Canasvieiras, Ingleses is very busy and has its own Center, with many restaurants, bars, stores, supermarkets, and more. In terms of accommodation, there are many options for hotels, pousadas, apartments, and houses for holiday rentals. As Floripa's most populous neighborhood, Ingleses offers a complete infrastructure, where is possible to find almost everything.
For those who want to enjoy a day at the beach, there are three great options just a few minutes away: Praia dos Ingleses, Praia do Santinho and Praia do Moçambique.
For those who enjoy history, at Praia do Santinho you can visit the Museum of Lithic Workshops, which is located on the shore of the beach, with inscriptions and stone marks made by the ancient indigenous peoples who inhabited this region of the island.

Barra da Lagoa

Barra da Lagoa can be pleasant for all types of travelers, but it is most popular with couples or groups of friends and solo travelers who want to be close to Lagoa da Conceição. This is one of the city's most traditional neighborhoods, mostly inhabited by locals and with a fishing community that keeps the tradition of artisanal fishing very much alive. Praia da Barra da Lagoa, the main beach in this area, has a blue-green sea, a long stretch of sand, and a natural pool on the far right side that is accessible by an easy trail.
From this neighborhood, it's also possible to reach other beaches such as Moçambique, Galheta, Gravatá, Mole, and Joaquina.
The Barra Canal, which cuts through the neighborhood, adds a charming touch to the landscape and offers another option for cooling off on hot days. Boat and speedboat trips from the Canal to the sea are very popular.

Campeche

Campeche is a great choice for young tourists, couples, and solo travelers in Floripa. Located in the far East, almost in the South of the Island, it is a more residential neighborhood, but with a good infrastructure and where some of the city's main hostels are located. Praia do Campeche (Campeche Beach) is the neighborhood's main attraction. It is one of Floripa's longest beaches, with crystal-clear waters, white sand, and waves that are ideal for beginner surfers.
In front of the beach is Ilha do Campeche, an idyllic destination for one of the city's most famous boat trips. On Avenida Pequeno Príncipe, the neighborhood's main street, you'll find several restaurants, bars, ice cream parlors, and more.
Campeche is also convenient for those who want to explore the beaches in the south of the island, such as Praia da Armação, Praia do Matadeiro, and Praia da Lagoinha do Leste.

Jurerê Leste

This is the right neighborhood for travelers who want to party or for couples looking for something more upscale. This is because Jurerê Leste is next to Jurerê Internacional, the famous neighborhood of mansions and beach clubs with their beach parties. Jurere Leste ends up offering a more attractive cost-benefit, in a location that is still close to the beach and the parties, but outside the high-cost area.
In Jurerê Internacional you can find renowned restaurants, an open-air mall called Open Shopping, boutique stores, and cute cafes. Jurerê Beach, the main beach in the neighborhood, is long and has a calm sea with practically no waves, which also attracts some families with children.
From Jurerê Leste you can also easily access Praia de Canajurê, Praia do Forte, and Praia da Daniela. For those interested in seeing historical sites, the São José da Ponta Grossa Fortress is also nearby, between Jurerê and Forte beaches.

Downtown Florianópolis

The central region of Florianópolis is the place of choice for business travelers and those who want a lively nightlife. With many buildings and hotels with good reputations, it's the place to go for those who like to be closer to the big city, even though Downtown Floripa is modest and relatively small. Avenida Beira-Mar Norte, close to the sea, is the ideal setting for those who enjoy watching the sunset or practicing a sport, from walking to beach volleyball, which can be played on the courts provided free of charge by the town hall.
By day, the Historic Center offers classical and baroque architecture, museums, the Mercado Público, and other famous attractions, as well as the famous Hercílio Luz Bridge, the oldest suspension bridge in Brazil.
At night, on the east side of the Downtown, the bars and clubs open and people party in them or on the street.
