Kaiserreich developers commissioned me to create two loading screens for their upcoming updates, with historical context and visual references provided as a starting point
For the Winter Ice March, I decided to go back to the classics and base the composition on Ilya Repin’s paintings, which was very well received by the devs. The main characters are real historical figures, so I had to be especially careful with how I portrayed them.
For the Battle of Huizhou, I took a more cinematic approach. Since the event itself is censored, I had to work with the limited material still publicly available, while imagining the rest through an alternate-history lens. The castle, however, is real - with a little reimagining of my own.
The final images are now featured as loading screens across various Kaiserreich versions.
