The Little Black Book Challenge Submission

In February 2021, I was perusing writing prompts and competitions. Vocal Media had one that was resonated, and it was called "The Little Black Book" Challenge. I found it during the week of February 22, 2021, and the deadline of March 2, 2021, was fast approaching. How could I submit a story when I worked a 40 hour work week for my regular job? The pandemic made it easier, because non-essential employees still worked remotely. Therefore, I tackled the story after clocking out from work and before going to bed.

The entire endeavor took less than three hours. I approached it in the same fashion as writing professionally for work and wrote five pages or 1,997 words, excluding title and my name. I submitted my story before midnight to the Vocal website. Less than 24 hours later, my story was approved and published. Shortly thereafter, I shared the link to my personal Facebook page.

There were cash prizes, and I hoped to win. However, this story was my first one on that particular platform. I was content in knowing that this project was going to lead to future postings.
