Company Overview

P3rceive is a seed-stage tech startup that has developed a novel software platform for AI-driven predictive analytics for several industry verticals including healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. After initial product validation with a few pilot customers, P3rceive has received seed funding and is now focused on building out their core platform and go-to-market strategy.

The Challenge

As a startup, P3rceive has limited resources in terms of engineering bandwidth and budget. Their initial product was created in a relatively ad-hoc way to validate the core concepts with early customers. However, to truly scale and execute on their product vision, they need a comprehensive and coherent product roadmap that:
Defines the key product pillars and major epics/initiatives
Prioritizes what gets built and in what order based on customer needs and market opportunities
Breaks down the high-level epics into concrete, prioritized features and user stories
Incorporates input from all key stakeholders (founders, engineers, sales, etc.)
Provides visibility for investors and the ability to measure progress over time
Without a solid product roadmap, P3rceive risks spinning its wheels, building the wrong features, disappointing customers, and struggling to raise future funding rounds.

Approach

We took a structured, collaborative approach to building P3rceive's product roadmap over an 8-week timeline:
1. Internal Kick-Off and Framing (Weeks 1-2)
Conducted individual stakeholder interviews across the company
Reviewed existing product documentation and customer research
Analyzed competitor product landscapes and roadmaps
Defined core product principles and strategic pillars
2. Roadmap Foundation (Weeks 3-4)
Facilitated workshops to map out major epics aligned to pillars and principles
Outlined key use cases, user personas, and user journey maps
Prioritized epics based on scores across impact, resources, risk factors
Built initial draft timeline roadmap with quarterly milestones
3. Roadmap Detailing (Weeks 5-6)
Led collaborative sessions to break down epics into granular user stories
Conducted technical scoping and estimation in points for user stories
Adjusted roadmap timeline based on estimations
Further prioritized user stories within epics
4. Stakeholder Review and Finalization (Weeks 7-8)
Presented draft roadmap to executive team and key stakeholders
Incorporated feedback and made final adjustments
Delivered comprehensive roadmap documents and models
Provided roadmap communication templates for investors and customers

Key Deliverables

The main deliverables from our engagement included:
Product Strategy Blueprint - Documented product vision, principles, pillars, personas, and KPIs
Product Roadmap Timeline - A multi-quarter/release roadmap timeline with key milestones and epics
Prioritized Epics and User Stories - Detailed breakdowns of prioritized epics into user stories with scores
Technical Specifications - User story technical specs including estimate points for engineering
Communications Assets - Executive briefs, roadmap visuals, demo scripts for stakeholders

Results and Next Steps

P3rceive now has a comprehensive, aligned product roadmap that provides transparency and direction for the entire company. The roadmap will guide them over the next 12-18 months as they build out their core platform and make it a single source of knowledge for product decisions.
In parallel, we established product operations including roadmap governance, agile processes, tooling, and metrics to systematically update the roadmap over time based on new inputs. The work continues with P3rceive to assist with the roadmap execution and to evolve the product strategy as the company grows and new market opportunities arise.
