5 Steps to Magical Bath

By. Alexandra Holt
One of my favorite things in the whole world is luxuriating in a hot bath. You might be thinking, me too, and what is so hard about accomplishing a bath? Nothing really, but to make it magical takes a little extra effort, some special intentions, and some magical joo-joo (and possibly a glass of wine).
Baths are one of the most restorative self-care practices you can work into your weekly routine. Not only do they benefit the body through relaxation and detoxification, but they can also serve your mind and spirit in equality detoxifying ways. One only has to take a few extra steps to reach the magical climax of a bath.

Step 1: Get moody.

Candles, scent, and nature sounds can set the mood of any bathroom.I am a tub reader so I opt for unscented stick candles. They have a fairly long burning life and provide the right amount of light for me. Scented Candles can also be a nice choice, although beware the overly perfumed ones -- they fill a small bathroom quickly and can become overwhelming to the senses.
Beyond a scented candle, diffusers are a nice option, and my go to. I like to add 5 drops of doTERRA lavender oil and 3-4 drops of Plant Therapy Frankincense and Myrrh blend. I set my diffuser to mist intermittently and I opt-out of the technicolor light show experience.
Transforming your tile cubical into a forest, beach, or spa is easy when you add nature sounds or calming music. Normally I use Pandora for my soothing sounds but recently my 2-1/2 month old baby girl joins me in her rocker at bath-time (sleeping beside the tub as I soak) and she prefers the sound of tiny bath bubbles popping, basically silence, so I am on a no tunes regimen for awhile.. Someday maybe I will get them back. My top two stations on Pandora: Nature Sound Radio and Invocation of Light Radio.
and both give calming vibes and remind me of a massage. Nice.
