Directory Administration System

The Challenge

The project started without any existing system. The client had a clear idea of building a professional networking platform, but everything had to be planned and developed from scratch.
The goal was to create a structured and scalable directory where companies and professionals could connect in a verified environment. This included company listings, sponsorship tiers, member verification, and filtering capabilities, all within a strict timeline of around six weeks.
With only two developers involved, including myself leading the architecture and development, the main challenge was balancing speed with stability while ensuring the platform was production-ready.

Understanding the Vision

The core idea was not just to build a directory, but to create a system where trust and visibility mattered. Instead of simply listing companies, the platform needed to support a verified ecosystem where users could build credibility.
We defined clear user flows for three main roles: members, company owners, and administrators. This helped structure how users would join, create companies, request connections, and apply for sponsorships. Getting this clarity early made it easier to avoid unnecessary features and stay within the timeline.

Designing the Experience

Once the structure was finalized, the focus shifted to usability. The interface was designed to be straightforward and easy to navigate, especially for users coming in without prior onboarding.
The flows were kept simple. Users could sign up using LinkedIn, create or join companies, explore listings, and apply for sponsorships without confusion. The goal was to reduce friction and make the platform usable from the first interaction.

Building the Platform

Development was carried out using an iterative approach so progress could be tested and adjusted quickly.
Key functionality included:
LinkedIn-based authentication to ensure user credibility
A tiered sponsorship system with Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels
Homepage visibility for higher-tier sponsors
Filtering and search to explore companies and members
Company-member connection requests for verified associations
An admin dashboard to manage approvals, payments, content, and reports
Privacy controls to restrict sensitive user data
Sponsorship requests were handled manually through admin approval after payment verification to maintain control and prevent misuse.

Deployment and Technology

The platform was deployed on AWS with a setup focused on reliability and scalability. Basic infrastructure for data handling, backups, and notifications was configured to support ongoing usage.

The Result

The platform was delivered within the given timeline and launched as a fully functional system.
It allowed companies and professionals to connect in a more structured way, with visibility driven by sponsorship tiers and filtering capabilities. The client was able to move from an idea to a working platform that could scale and evolve over time.
