Nona Hendryx's Dream Machine Experience

A large scale project involving 16 virtual environments in VR and 10 AR sculptures. As 3D technical artist and 3D modeler my role here was to make sure all 3D assets coming from the Lead Artist were properly ported from Blender into Unity for the dev team to use, that is, materials needed to match the artist's vision or geometry needed to be small enough for VR and AR use without visual artifacts or deformations just to mention a few of the tasks. In some other cases I was commisioned to create assets from concept or reference images to support and keep up with deadlines and sprints.


AR model optimization

This is an example of some of the tasks, in this case, this digital twin from a sculpture designed by Nick Cave was 14MM faces and optimization was needed for it to run in AR platforms.
The solution came by creating a separate low poly version and bake a normal map texture, the end result was a 170K faces or aproximately 98% reduction in poly count.
