For 55 years from its existence. In the faded memories of a community, which at the end of the 60s witnessed a strong act of rebellion, which gave life to a dream that still remains one of the most surprising events in Italian history.
This social change was brought about by Giorgio Rosa, a young architect from Bologna, who decided to make a revolutionary act, creating a micronation off the coast of Romagna, in international waters where anything was possible. Thus was born the Esperanta Respubliko de la Insulo de la Rozoj, better known as the Island of Roses.
The creation of the architect Rosa led to a strong division within the international community of the time, creating a peculiar and irreverent case that led to the social recognition of a meeting place where it was possible to share dreams and moments of conviviality among young Italians. Fifty-five years later, with the creation of this collection, we aim to bring back the magic and irreverence that inhabited that micronation off the coast.
Through patterns that recall the iconic elements of those years, making them contemporary, we seek to bring to light the memories of dreams and ambitions of a young architect and a youth influenced by strong years of social change, contributing to the success of a place where one could escape and fully live the carefree spirit of that nonexistent island.
