a piece of writeup: Which would be worse, to live as a monster or die as a hero? The axiom, said by dennis lehane, in the movie shutter island, presents a dilemma. By meaning that life always demands sacrifice whether it is of character or of soul: one must have to suffer through it. Consider, for instance, socrates died after swallowing hemlock poison. If he had denied to do so, Socrate would have never been what he is today. Despite the fact that he was given the opportunity to do so. He died as a hero. On the other hand, people who choose to live long ,mostly, become villains in their life. As another quote remarkably presents this facet of dilemma which states as such, “either you die as a hero or you live long enough to see your self become a villain. “ In sum, this is dilemma of life one must have to sacrifice one thing whether it is of life or of character. But why?? Because nature is villain; the earth is deadly; sea is ruthless, sky is is abyss, sun is monster, and moon is treacherous. So, Nietzsche already warned us: “ He who fights and lives with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.” Therefore, beware what you choose or what you sacrifice, for life is a dilemma either way you have to suffer. At least suffer for good.
