This portfolio project was completed in December 2023 as a part of the Onyx Data #DataDNA competition. I used Power BI, a very useful visualization tool to analyze Christmas sales from 2018 to 2023 with the goal of highlighting key metrics and trends for the months of November and December.
DATASET
With 10,000 rows, 16 columns, and a dictionary page detailing each column's meaning in the table, the data was provided by Onyx Data in a CSV file format.
METHODOLOGY
The idea was to create a very simple and easy to navigate one-page report that would highlight key areas for potential growth and improvements, such as the top selling products and categories, the most popular day to shop, average spending by gender suggestions for raising overall customer satisfaction, etc.
Data Cleaning
Since the data was nearly completely clean, no significant cleaning was done.
Table Addition
Three additional measures tables containing calculated measures (product, product category, and key indicators) as well as a calendar table were added.
Column Addition
The primary dataset was expanded to include the ensuing columns:

numerically indicated yes or no for the return flag
numerically ordered online
and to the calender table

The Analysis
For the analysis I opted to use core visuals like line chart, bar chart, column chart and matrix table. I made the decision to utilize as few charts as possible while still incorporating the use of icons and images to convey important information in an effort to prevent clutter.
Sales Trend

To monitor sales on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis by category, product, store, and city, a date matrix was created. This essentially means that a user could monitor and analyze sales performance over time by selecting any year.
In light of the project's objectives, it was also critical to emphasize the year-over-year change in sales by product category and product as can e seen above.
Customer Satisfaction Rating
Customer contenment is one of the most crucial things to take into account as a business owner. Therefore, it is necessary to offer strategies for raising client satisfaction levels, which may increase sales. with a clear and informative display in the above visual, one could easily identitfy areas that may need specific attention from a business owner.
Dashboard
Figma was used to design the dashboard layouts and background which was then imported into power BI as a PNG file for incoporation of the visuals.
