Localized Content Strategy for AAPC's Location Pages

The Client
A family-owned pest control company serving Nashville and Middle Tennessee since 1961. All American Pest Control (AAPC) competes against national franchises and local operators across a service area spanning 11 cities, from Nashville and Brentwood to Dickson and Columbia.
Their ask was direct. They wanted their location pages ranking on page one, with content that actually spoke to the pests homeowners in each city were dealing with.

The Challenge

At the start of the quarter, only 2 of AAPC's 11 location pages ranked anywhere on page one of Google. The rest sat on page two or further back, invisible to homeowners searching "pest control [city] TN."
The content driving those pages was thin and largely templated, swapping in a city name without speaking to what actually made each market different. That left Google with little reason to treat AAPC as the local authority, even in cities the company has served for decades.

The Approach

The fix started with the location pages themselves, not more blog volume.
Rebuild the on-page copy for every location
Ten location pages were rewritten from the ground up, each tuned to that city's real pest pressure rather than a templated city-swap page.
Localize the content strategy
Blog and location content was pointed at the specific bugs, seasons, and neighborhoods of each market instead of generic pest control advice.
Run backlink outreach to build authority
Ongoing outreach grew referring domains and lifted Domain Rating, giving every location page more authority to compete on.
Track AI visibility alongside rankings
With Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode now surfacing local answers, we tracked how often AAPC's content was cited across ChatGPT, Google AI Overview/Mode, and Gemini, not just classic blue-link rankings.

The Results

By the end of the quarter, 10 of AAPC's 11 location pages ranked on page one of Google, up from just 2 at the start. Six of those pages now hold the number-one spot outright, including Arrington, Bellevue, Berry Hill, Brentwood, and Hendersonville.

Organic traffic grew from 27,804 to 30,366 visits a month in the same window, and keywords ranking in the Top 3 climbed from 412 to 624. AI Overviews and AI Mode are now citing AAPC's content for searches like carpenter bees in Tennessee and pest control in Murfreesboro, a sign the same localized approach is starting to carry into AI-generated answers as well.

Location by Location

The gains were not concentrated in one city. Every rebuilt location page moved, just on its own timeline.
Arrington, Bellevue, Berry Hill & Brentwood
All four climbed straight to the #1 spot in Google's results after their page rebuilds.
Hendersonville
Reached #1 following a full page refresh built around the city's specific pest pressures.
Antioch & Columbia
Both climbed to the #2 spot, just outside the top result.
Chapel Hill
Landed at #3, onto page one for the first time.
Belle Meade & Dickson
Rounded out page one at #4 and #6.

Why It Worked

The win was not more content. It was content built for the city someone was actually searching from.
Templated location pages do not compete with businesses writing specifically about a city's pests, seasons, and neighborhoods. Once AAPC's pages spoke to Brentwood the way Brentwood residents actually search, and to Dickson the way Dickson residents search, Google had a real reason to rank each page on its own merit. That same localized content is now showing up in AI Overviews and AI Mode, which increasingly pull from the same locally specific pages.
