Two Chicks and a Hammer

I had the opportunity to work with Two Chicks and a Hammer from HGTV's Good Bones as a media marketing intern. This experience allowed me to see the behind-the-scenes of a TV show, while also being able to create social media content. I had many responsibilities as a part of the media marketing team including photoshoots of demo and products, marketing newly released merchandise, packing orders and shipping them, creating public relations materials surrounding the new season, creating blog content, and developing a marketing plan for Pinterest.

SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT CALENDAR

When I started my internship with Two Chicks and a  Hammer, they were using Google Calendar to sketch out ideas for what they wanted to post each day. I helped them develop a physical content calendar so they could create content that was easy to cut and paste and schedule.

MERCHANDISING

Over the course of my internship, Two Chicks and a Hammer had 4 separate merch drops for season-specific t-shirts. For each merch drop, I was responsible for reporting profit margins to upper management, packing and shipping orders, and responding to customer emails regarding concerns with their orders.

PUBLIC RELATIONS MATERIALS

When I was wrapping up my internship, I created a public relations kit for the Two Chicks and a Hammer team. One of their construction guys had transferred into the public relations position and had no experience in the area. I created a simple-to-use kit including a sample press release, a media kit, and basic instructions for additional materials he may be asked to provide.

PHOTO AND VIDEO SHOOTS

I had the opportunity to design and execute photoshoots for new merchandise. Through each month that Good Bones Season 4 aired, Two Chicks and a Hammer released a new t-shirt. To promote the t-shirts on social media and on the website, we had to create content and photos that we could post

BLOG CONTENT

Toward the end of my internship, I worked on the Two Chick's blog. The media marketing team had begun the transition from creating weekly newsletters to creating weekly blog posts. The blog posts ranged from recipes to the best ways to stage a specific room in a house.
