Web Design Contest Winner

A digital marketing agency posted a design contest to make their new website. This is the brief, in their words: 

"We're a digital marketing agency. We don't take ourselves too seriously. We work with tiny tiny startups. Our website should feel like we are amazing at what we do and that we don't care. It should be weird. The weirder the better. Any boring concept won't be accepted. It should feel super unique and different and strange :)"

Art Direction | Visual Design I was the sole Art Director and Visual Designer in this project, in direct communication with the CEO, the marketing assistant and the web developers.

GOAL The existing website draft needs to be redesigned to align perfectly with the provided copy, tone of voice, and brief. It is essential to emphasize the visual appeal as the strongest element to effectively convey the story.

• My strategy aimed for a vintage look that conveyed character, combined with an illustrated style to reflect their satiric, non-corporate tone of voice.

• After providing several options and selecting the strongest one, I searched for the necessary graphics to ensure that every element aligned with the provided copy.  • I meticulously designed the banners, main titles, and seamlessly integrated them with graphic elements to enhance every section of the site, from the header to the testimonials, and background/complementary images.

BRANDING I completely rebuilt their brand from scratch and provided new guidelines based on the newly agreed-upon visual direction.

I secured first place in two rounds and won the web design contest. In round 1, my proposal was chosen as the top pick out of 10 submissions, and then again out of 41 submissions. The website was designed for both desktop and mobile versions. 

Following the contest, I was hired to work on several projects with them.
