Forstok is an Indonesian omnichannel e-commerce platform that centralizes inventory, order management, and product listings across multiple sales channels, integrating with major marketplaces such as Tokopedia, Shopee, Lazada, TikTok, Blibli, and Shopify.
As a Backend Software Engineer, I contributed to designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that support high-volume e-commerce operations and complex marketplace integrations.
I built and maintained backend services using Node.js, Golang, and Ruby, implementing both RESTful APIs and RPC (gRPC)–based services for efficient inter-service communication within a microservices architecture. I used Protocol Buffers to define clear service contracts, improving performance, consistency, and maintainability across internal services.
To handle asynchronous workflows and improve system reliability, I integrated RabbitMQ for message queuing, enabling event-driven processing for orders, inventory synchronization, and marketplace callbacks with robust retry and failure-handling mechanisms.
On the data layer, I worked with MySQL for transactional data and MongoDB for flexible, document-oriented storage, optimizing schemas and queries to ensure performance at scale. I also supported cloud-native deployments using Kubernetes, running services across AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to ensure scalability, resilience, and smooth deployment pipelines.
I collaborated closely with cross-functional teams to improve system stability, reduce integration failures, and ensure the platform remained reliable during high-traffic sales events and peak transaction periods.
