Labshare's AI MVP platform has a section titled “PROTOCHAIN” focusing on protocol creation, forking, and publishing within a research community while rewarding researchers and suppliers via a tokenized incentive system.

The double diamond design method was ideal for the following reasons;
Ensured the platform was designed around researchers' and suppliers' actual workflows and pain points.
To encourage exploration
Prototyping and testing in the Develop and Deliver phases ensured continuous refinement based on real user feedback.
The method’s structured approach ensured that the LMS, ELN, and PROTOCHAIN were seamlessly integrated into a cohesive platform.

From the user flow, I decided to do a user journey map for the PROTOCHAIN user flow to highlight opportunities to improve user experience and drive engagement through clear guidance, intuitive tools, and incentivization by addressing user pain points and enhancing emotions at each stage.

Before moving to high-fidelity designs, it was crucial to define clear and intuitive rules for end users, including identifiable brand colors, typography with clear CTAs, and more.

PROTOTYPE & TEST

Created high-fidelity prototypes for key features like protocol creation and forking as well as, supplier product reviews and gifting tokens.

PROTOCOL CREATION

It was focused on creating a protocol using an existing template, they also have the option of building one from scratch, as well as adjusting the visibility level of their protocols to either public, private, or just for collaborators, as shown in the video below.

Suppliers can view reviews and feedback on their products and protocols and have the option to reward users with tokens for leaving reviews or comments.

USABILITY TESTING

Using the Heuristic Evaluation usability testing technique, it highlighted Labshare’s protochain section strengths in providing an intuitive, efficient, and user-friendly experience. The platform excels in system feedback, error prevention, and usability, ensuring that users can navigate, collaborate, and achieve their goals with ease.

LEARNINGS

Simplifying intricate tasks like protocol creation highlights the importance of breaking down complexity into manageable steps by using progressive disclosure, tooltips, and templates to make complex functionalities more accessible and intuitive for all users.
Designing a platform that can scale for future features or accommodate different user needs emphasizes the importance of adaptability.
